INTERN DIARIES - DAY TWO!

I woke up this morning 20 minutes before my alarm - now thats telling you something (considering my alarm goes off at 7.30 and I hate early mornings) - and was positively beaming and ready to start the day. As I looked into my closet my inspiration came from two places. Alexander Wang is one of my favorite american designers , his signature look is purely cool and his style has been dubbed a 'model-off-duty' look , that cool-fashion-insider-not-trying-too-hard look is what he specialises in. His first collection saw models strutting down the runway in glamorous clothes dressed down with floppy beanies - a total juxtaposition of dressed down glunge *glamour/grunge. The other inspiration came from the Jay Z video for 'Run This Town' again oozing nothing more than cool with a touch of soldier/military/warrior embellishment in the form of bullets and studs. I got changed a total of 3 times to finally decide on the following look, mostly consisting of H&M peices and accesories (beanie & belt) I borrowed from my boyfriend! Its one of my favorite looks to date because its a mix of cool.edgy.casual.grunge.
With my amazing dropcrotch-harem style trousers on sale for 5quid , my 4pound tee & 3pound chain necklace - the look (apart from Ben's beanie & belt & my CAT HAMMILL bracelets) cost me a total of 12pounds! Proving you dont always need to spend loads on fashion! In fact my bracelets - though I do love them to bits cost me 3 times the amount of the total outfit. After a nice quick breakfast with Ben I was off to Goodley for my 2nd day! As soon as I got in there was a pile of things that needing booking out for a photo shoot for LOVE magazine , I quickly got through those , making sure to put all the jewellery on the photocopier and photocopy the peices we're sending for the shoot as instructed. While photocopying this amazing Holly Fulton necklace
one of the PR girls complimented my trousers...not bad for 5quid I thought! Today , we were expecting a visit from songstress Leona Lewis to pick up a few William Tempest dresses for an upcoming event. Whether Leona or her stylist would be coming was unknown, however in place of either of them Mr.William Tempest himself came to pick up the dresses to deliver to L.L - and I must say he was such a humble down to earth dude. He came in dressed in skinny jeans a denim jacket carrying a backpack - very highschool.geek.chic - made no fuss and was super pleasant to everyone - interns included. The dresses were selected and then I was instructed to get a shoe option, bag the pair up and hand them to William myself. I slipped the black suede towering heels in a bag and uttered 'Here are the shoes for you William' - and he replied with a pleasant 'Thanks' and there it was , Day 2 and already I had met one of London's most influential new young designers. His clothes are INCREDIBLE and I highly recommend you all google him! (He came back later that afternoon to inform us that Leona was lovely throughout the shoot)...
...as I got back to the intern hub a package had just arrived back from a stylist and I had a few dresses to book in. As I opened up the package to admire the gorgeous 'Krystof...' dresses I checked the Delivery Note to make sure the right peices had come back. I then read the description in the fashion story which stated the following - ...special event dresses for Cheryl Cole. I almost stopped breathing - the dresses in my hand had been worn by my favorite UK sonstress Cheryl Cole - NO FKN WAY - here is the Krystof of Strozyna dress she wore...
Not a day goes by that I dont listen to Cheryl's music, talk about her or mention her name I am officially in love with her and this was just all so surreal. I took a moment to register what was happening and got straight back to work! Before mid-afternoon I had some looks to pull for Rachel for another fashion shoot , again the theme was 'ocassion dressing' and the client was Good Living magazine. Again a fairly low-key publication some might say but never the less its extra responsibility and another opportunity for me to show myself and my initiative so i'm greatful that i'm being given these extra bits to do. This afternoon we also received a semi-confirmed schedule for LONDON FASHION WEEK. Beginning next Friday the 19th and eneding on Tuesday the 23rd - and suddenly my calendar became a lot more hectic. We have at least one show on pretty much every day of LFW - this i'm told will mean lots of running around from one venue to the next but will also include me dressing the models backstage and being amongst the very hype of the show. Backstage is where it all goes down , the designer, the models, hair & make up - its all there where 6months of blood, sweat and tears and an hour of preparation goes into a 10minute show - sounds like heaven to me and I absolutley cant wait. With fashion week looming there were some invitations to a party one of our Designers is hosting that needed to go out. I was given a guest list , contact details and after I made a few phone calls I had a full list of guests and adresses - now it was time to hand write a few notes on the GOODLEY PR letter head to be slipped in with the invites. This may seem to some a boring task , but its not every day you're hand writing notes for invitations being sent out to the likes of Pixie Geldoff , Alexa Chung & Jade Jagger - so I relished every second of every note. As Rach came over to check up on me she said '...make sure you keep next thursday free so you can come along to the party as well, it should be good for you, meet the right people in the industry' - I couldnt beleive my ears. I would be attending an uber-cool-uber-exclusive fashion party the night before LFW to kick off Fashion Week - me , little Deni from Geelong - I nearly had to pinch myself. 'Amazing, thanks Rach' - I replied trying to be cool as a cucumber. Heres a little pic I took below of my LFW Catwalk Schedule (as you can see i'll be run off my feet) and the invite to next weeks party!
(just incase you were wondering) - they're laying on a background of the FELDER FELDER and KRYSTOF... looks books, two of my handful of favorite designers we represent. Before I knew it all my invites were done and my day over. What I love about working in a fashion office is that your day is so jam packed that not only is it high speed energy upon which I thrive off - but your day speeds on by! I left the GOODLEY office at a quarter past 6 and headed to visit my mates at Diesel which then followed with me & my gorgeous friend Ruth popping into Ben's work , grabbing some Starbucks and having a wonder through H&M and Topshop. I must admit after spending the past two days at Goodley I've missed my Diesel family so it was nice to see their faces. The past couple days have been truly incredible - for a madly-in-love-born-to-live-for-fashion person like myself , to be given all these opportunities after only just my 4th month in London and my 2nd day at my 1st ever internship - I feel truly blessed and I honestly think that coming over here has been probably one of the best things i've ever done and I can already see that this is going to be a once in a lifetime experience that will bring me hopefully many amazing opportunities. Its back to Diesel tomorrow for a couple days and then I return to Goodley for Day 3 on friday! Its been a long day my friends so I shall bid you farewell for now xoxo Deni
